BBC Marine Games

BBC has thirteen games (7 Big Challenges and 6 ‘Just for Fun’ games) on their website that are worth exploring and playing.

octopusMost games have a marine theme. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend a few minutes, try the just for fun games like the Under Pressure in which you identify fish that can live at 6,000 m below sea level.

The big challenges are also good although they are more involved and take longer to play. It also took me a minute to figure out how to play some of them. On any of the games with instructions, I found it really helps to read the instructions!

All the games are educational. By playing Under Pressure, I learned some useful facts such as that you can see right through Glass Eels, which are venomous. The game also has the Phronima, which lives with its babies in the stolen body of jellyfish and was reportedly the inspiration for the movie Alien. That will be a good factoid to know this Hallowe’en weekend!
