Welcome to Voices For Our Planet

October 19th, 2009 by Alison Wheatley in Greetings

Birds on a treeThis blog is all about giving a greater voice to the people and groups who are working to find or implement solutions to our planet’s problems.

In 2008, the International Union for Conservation of Nature reported that there are 5,966 endangered species of vertebrate animals (mammals, birds, etc.) in the world. Also, more than one billion people are undernourished, according to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. And the climate is changing, as destructive weather such as storms, droughts and floods becomes more common.

But there’s also great hope, and many people are thinking up innovative solutions and managing charitable efforts to help make a positive difference for our planet. As always, I am honored to join those people who are trying to stop animal extinctions, feed people in developing countries (and closer to home), and help our planet in so many, many ways. Each one of them is needed. And so are You.

Time is short, and all hands are needed on deck. This blog will talk about situations, solutions and opportunities for you to help. The dedicated people and organizations that are helping our planet deserve our support. This blog will provide another avenue for their work, and getting the word out about what they are doing. Our planet, its people and its animals deserve our support.

Please feel free to comment about any posting. Or if you’d like to get in touch, email us at info@voicesforourplanet.com .

Enjoy! And be active – it’s time to help.
